Odeo MK3 LED Flare
£74.95(Ex. VAT)
The Odeo MK3 LED marine flare is an alternative to traditional flares. The flare is visible up to at least 3 nautical miles away and will display at a consistent brightness for up to 6 hours.
When an emergency happens at sea, visibility matters. The Odeo MK3 LED Flare is designed to provide a powerful, sustained visual distress signal without the heat, flames, smoke and short operating time associated with pyrotechnic flares.
Once activated, its high-intensity LEDs produce a distinctive flashing signal that can be seen from at least three nautical miles away. Unlike a traditional handheld flare, which may burn for only around 30 seconds, the Odeo MK3 can operate at full illumination for approximately six hours.
That extended run time gives rescuers a much larger window in which to identify your position while allowing you to concentrate on managing the emergency.
Up to Six Hours of Illumination
Traditional pyrotechnic flares provide an intense signal, but only for a very limited period. The Odeo MK3 delivers a consistent electronic distress signal for up to six hours at full brightness.
Because it does not contain explosives or produce an open flame, it is safe when switched off and can be stored alongside other emergency equipment without the same handling and disposal concerns associated with pyrotechnic flares.
User-Replaceable Batteries
The Odeo MK3 is reusable and does not need to be discarded after a single activation. It is powered by either:
-
3 × L91 lithium AA batteries
-
3 × standard alkaline AA batteries
The batteries can be replaced by the user, making it simple to keep the flare ready for future trips. Compatible batteries provide the shelf life, power capacity and operating-temperature range required for dependable emergency use.
Its battery-powered design also makes the Odeo MK3 easier to transport, store and carry in luggage than conventional pyrotechnic distress signals.
Waterproof and Built for Marine Conditions
Designed for demanding environments, the Odeo MK3 is waterproof to a depth of 50 metres for up to 30 minutes.
It has also been pressure-tested at a depth equivalent to 100 metres for one hour, demonstrating its suitability for marine emergency kits, life rafts, grab bags and diving equipment.
Whether it is exposed to heavy rain, spray, immersion or challenging conditions at sea, the rugged housing helps protect the electronics inside.
Internationally Recognised SOS Flash Pattern
The Odeo MK3 produces an SOS signal as part of its flash sequence, following the distress signal described in Annex IV of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, COLREGS.
It has been developed with consideration for SOLAS requirements and the growing use of electronic Visual Distress Signals, also known as eVDS, as an alternative to traditional handheld pyrotechnic flares.
Regulations and carriage requirements can vary according to vessel type, location and governing authority, so operators should confirm whether an electronic flare can be carried as a direct replacement for mandatory pyrotechnic equipment in their area.
