Iridium, Inmarsat and the Thuraya network also allow a plain text email to be sent to a specific email address of the satellite phone. As long as you have an active SIM card, and a valid phone number you will be able to follow the simple instructions below to send a message via your normal email address.

IRIDIUM
You can send an SMS message to an Iridium phone directly from your cellular or terrestrial email service by sending the email to the following address: 8816[number]@msg.iridium.com
Send an SMS through the Iridium network with the Iridium 9555, Iridium 9575 Extreme, Iridium Extreme Push-To-Talk (PTT)and Thrane LT-3100 Iridium Communications System.
INMARSAT
1. Open a new email, ensuring it is plain text and not HTML
2. In the recipient, send the email to satellitephonenumber@message.inmarsat.com. On Inmarsat this should display as 87077XXXXXXX@message.inmarsat.com.

Send via email to sms@smsr.thuraya.com with the telephone number you are trying to message as the subject (without any 0 or + at the start), e.g. 88216XXXXXXXX
