If you want to send a quick SMS to a friend, family member, colleague or loved one, then use our quick links below to take you straight to the official network SMS pages. All you will need is the full satellite phone number and you will be able send the SMS direct
Iridium, Inmarsat and the Thuraya network also allow a plain text email to be sent to a specific email address of the satellite phone. As long as you have an active SIM card, and a valid phone number you will be able to follow the simple instructions below to send a message via your normal email address.
Please note: we advise clicking through using the logos above to your desired network rather than the email appraoch outlined as an example below.
IRIDIUM
You can send an SMS message to an Iridium phone directly from your cellular or terrestrial email service by sending the email to the following address: 8816[number]@msg.iridium.com
Send an SMS through the Iridium network with theIridium 9555, Iridium 9575 Extreme, Iridium Extreme Push-To-Talk (PTT)andThrane LT-3100 Iridium Communications System.
INMARSAT
1. Open a new email, ensuring it is plain text and not HTML
2. In the recipient, send the email to satellitephonenumber@message.inmarsat.com. On Inmarsat this should display as 87077XXXXXXX@message.inmarsat.com.
