The Ocean Signal rescueME PLB1 is the world's smallest, waterproof PLB. The Ocean Signal rescueME PLB1 can be single-handedly deployed to send your GPS location to emergency services in case of SOS.

The Ocean Signal rescueME PLB1 Personal Locator Beacon provides reassurance on land or at sea, allowing you to alert global search and rescue services and transmit your location at the push of a button.

Unlike many satellite-enabled safety devices, the rescueME PLB1 requires no monthly or annual subscription, making it a cost-effective emergency beacon for long-term use.

Compact and Easy to Carry

The PLB1 is approximately 30% smaller by volume than many other personal locator beacons, allowing it to fit easily onto a lifejacket, belt or rucksack strap.

Its retractable antenna can be stored neatly around the top of the device when not in use.

Simple Emergency Activation

The rescueME PLB1 can be activated single-handedly, even in difficult conditions. A spring-loaded protective flap covers the emergency button to help prevent accidental activation.

When activated, the beacon transmits your identity and location via satellite to a Rescue Coordination Centre. The alert is then passed to the emergency services responsible for your location.

The PLB1 will continue transmitting for a minimum of 24 hours. Its high-intensity strobe light can also help search and rescue teams locate you in darkness or poor visibility.

The PLB1 should only be activated in situations involving grave and imminent danger to life. False alerts can place lives at risk, disrupt rescue operations and may result in penalties.

Battery Life and Warranty

The Ocean Signal rescueME PLB1 includes:

  • Up to seven years of standby battery life

  • A five-year warranty

The five-year warranty is subject to registration directly with Ocean Signal.

The battery must be replaced after the beacon has been activated in an emergency or once it reaches its expiry date.

The battery is not user-replaceable. The PLB1 must be sent to an authorised Ocean Signal service centre or dealer for battery replacement.

UK Programming and International Use

All Personal Locator Beacons sold by GTC are normally programmed with the UK country code.

The beacon will still operate around the world, but the first authority contacted following an activation will usually be the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency in Falmouth, where the beacon should be registered.

Please contact GTC before ordering if you require the PLB1 to be programmed for registration in a country other than the UK.

PLBs will not operate underwater. A suitable waterproof canister should be used when carrying the beacon deeper than the maximum immersion depth stated in its technical specifications.

Registering Your Ocean Signal rescueME PLB1

Registering a Personal Locator Beacon is required by law in many countries and is an essential part of preparing the device for use.

Registration allows search and rescue authorities to identify the beacon owner and contact the nominated emergency contacts. Those contacts may be able to provide useful information about your route, vessel, aircraft, vehicle or travel plans.

Without accurate registration information, it may take longer for emergency responders to confirm the situation and begin an appropriate rescue operation.

Once you receive your programmed PLB1, you will need to register it using the unique 15-character Beacon HEX ID shown on the beacon and its packaging.

Great

I have not used it and hope I never need to! But having it makes a huge difference to feeling safe about hiking alone. Great peace of mind, and small enough to take anywhere.
