The Iridium Extreme PTT is a rugged, dual-mode satellite communications device designed for teams operating in remote, high-risk, or infrastructure-free environments. Combining traditional satellite phone functionality with instant push-to-talk capability, it delivers secure one-to-one and one-to-many communications anywhere on the planet using the Iridium satellite network. Unlike conventional radio systems that rely on local repeaters or terrestrial infrastructure, the Iridium Extreme PTT provides truly global coverage across land, sea, and air, making it ideal for emergency response teams, security operations, utilities, maritime crews, expedition leaders, remote workers, and government organisations.

Built around Iridium’s global satellite constellation, the handset allows users to switch seamlessly between satellite phone mode and push-to-talk mode depending on operational requirements. In phone mode, users can make voice calls, send SMS messages, and access location-based services just like a traditional Iridium satellite phone. In PTT mode, the device functions like a satellite walkie-talkie, enabling instant group communications with low latency and wide-area coverage without relying on cellular networks or radio towers.
