Garmin eTrex® 32x

The Garmin eTrex 32x is a rugged handheld GPS navigator built for hikers, hunters and outdoor users who want detailed mapping and dependable navigation without relying on a smartphone or cellular connection. Preloaded Garmin TopoActive maps provide routable roads and trails, while support for both GPS and GLONASS helps the unit maintain its position in more challenging terrain than GPS alone.

Where the eTrex 32x steps up from simpler handheld GPS units is in its additional navigation hardware. A built-in 3-axis electronic compass can show your heading even when you're standing still, while the barometric altimeter helps monitor elevation and changes in atmospheric pressure. Together with waypoint navigation, route planning, track recording and turn-by-turn routing on compatible mapping, it gives outdoor users a much more complete picture of where they are and where they're heading.

The 2.2-inch sunlight-readable color display is compact but designed specifically for outdoor visibility, while 8 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot provide room for additional compatible mapping. It runs on two replaceable AA batteries and delivers up to 25 hours of battery life in GPS mode, making it particularly practical for multi-day trips where plugging into a charger isn't always an option.

The eTrex 32x is also IPX7 water-rated and weighs approximately 5 oz with batteries, giving it the durable, portable construction the eTrex range is known for. It's a strong choice for hiking, hunting, geocaching, backcountry navigation and remote field work where a dedicated GPS is preferable to depending entirely on a phone.

It's important to remember that the Garmin eTrex 32x is a GPS navigator, not a satellite communicator. It does not provide Iridium messaging, satellite voice calls or interactive SOS. If you need off-grid communication as well as navigation, a Garmin inReach device or satellite phone would be the more appropriate choice.
