The Odeo Distress marine flare is an alternative to traditional pyrotechnic boat flares offering a safer and more effective distress signal. Using LED technology illuminates for around 8 hours at full illumination. As the device uses standard battery power it is totally safe when switched off and also fine to carry on-board aircraft.
The ODEO Distress Flare is a compact electronic visual distress signal designed to provide a safer, reusable alternative to traditional pyrotechnic hand flares.
Originally developed for marine use, the ODEO Distress uses powerful red LEDs to create a highly visible distress signal without flames, explosives or the handling risks associated with conventional pyrotechnic flares. Its flashing pattern also incorporates the internationally recognised SOS signal, making it a practical addition to grab bags, emergency kits and onboard safety equipment.
Designed to perform in demanding conditions, the flare is waterproof to IP68, floats and can withstand a two-metre drop. With lithium batteries fitted, it has a stated detection range of at least 3 nautical miles and up to 6 nautical miles in ideal conditions, alongside an operating life of approximately 9 hours at full illumination.
Unlike a single-use pyrotechnic flare, the ODEO Distress can simply be switched on when required and switched off again when no longer needed. It operates using readily available AA batteries, making battery replacement and long-term storage straightforward.
Its compact and lightweight construction also makes it useful beyond boating. The ODEO Distress can be carried for activities such as kayaking, mountaineering, skiing, diving and remote expeditions, where a highly visible emergency signalling device can provide additional peace of mind.
Certified Used Product Grades
Grade A – Like New
In like-new condition with all original accessories included. The outer packaging may be damaged, which is why the product cannot be sold as new.
Grade B – Used
Fully tested and in good working order. The device may show light cosmetic marks or scuffs. Includes all accessories, although the packaging may be damaged.
Grade C – Device Only
A fully working standalone device with no accessories included. It may show signs of previous use and may not come in its original packaging.
Grade D – Spares or Repairs
A non-working device sold as-is for spare parts or repair purposes. No accessories are included.
