Global SOS Protection with No Subscription Fees

The McMurdo FastFind 220 is a compact, GPS-enabled Personal Locator Beacon designed to summon emergency assistance from remote locations around the world.

When activated, it transmits a distress alert and your location through the international Cospas-Sarsat search and rescue satellite system. This allows the alert to be passed to the appropriate rescue authorities, even when you are operating beyond mobile coverage.

This certified used unit provides the essential emergency functionality of a new beacon at a lower cost. Minor cosmetic marks may be present, but the device is checked before dispatch.

How the FastFind 220 Works

In an emergency, deploy the antenna and activate the beacon. It will transmit a distress signal on the internationally recognised 406 MHz search and rescue frequency.

Satellites within the Cospas-Sarsat system detect the signal and relay the alert to the relevant Rescue Coordination Centre. The beacon also transmits your coordinates, helping rescue teams identify your location.

Once responders reach the surrounding area, the 121.5 MHz homing signal can help them pinpoint the beacon more accurately.

Accurate GPS and Galileo Positioning

The FastFind 220 uses GPS and Galileo satellite positioning to calculate and transmit your location. Access to multiple satellite constellations can support faster and more accurate position detection in an emergency.

Subscription-Free

Unlike satellite communicators and tracking devices, the FastFind 220 does not require a monthly plan, airtime credit or service contract.

Once the beacon has been correctly programmed and registered, it is ready to use in an emergency without ongoing charges.

Registration Required

Personal Locator Beacons must be registered to their new owner before use. Registration provides rescue authorities with important information about the beacon, its owner and relevant emergency contacts.

Used units will be supplied with the appropriate country coding where possible. However, the new owner is responsible for updating the beacon’s registration details before taking it into the field.

Battery and Servicing

The battery condition and expiry date will vary between used units. Although the FastFind 220 uses a long-life lithium battery, replacement or professional servicing may be required sooner than with a new beacon.

Always check the battery expiry date and perform the recommended self-test before travel. The beacon should also be serviced after an emergency activation.

Compact and Ready for Remote Environments

The FastFind 220 is small enough to carry in a pocket, backpack or life jacket. Its waterproof construction, deployable antenna, LED strobe and included buoyancy pouch make it suitable for both land-based and marine activities.
