Terms and Conditions for Iridium Prepaid Airtime

Activation of prepaid airtime must take place within 6 months of purchase.
Global Prepaid Plans

The expiry date can be extended by purchasing a prepaid voucher or 30 day extension (excluding the 50 minute voucher). If the expiry date is not extended then your SIM Card will expire and become invalid. Any minutes remaining will be lost and your SIM will enter a 270 day grace period in which you may reactivate the SIM by adding a new voucher, however the original balance will be lost and will not be added to the new balance. After this 270 day period has ended the SIM will automatically deactivate meaning that you will need to purchase a new SIM Card and pre-paid voucher.


As of December 17, 2013 Iridium are enforcing a maximum validity for the balance of vouchers. All prepaid units that have been carried over for more than three years will be expired on a daily basis from prepaid account balances.


Units will expire based on the oldest voucher purchase activity which is greater than three years (four years for 3k/5k e?vouchers) that has not yet been consumed, if applicable. 

Unit balances are available to customers by calling 2888 or sending an SMS to 2888 from their Iridium handset. Users will be given the balance of units that may expire if not used within the next six months. This message will be based on the oldest evoucher purchase activity and units that are subject to expiry within the next six months, if applicable.

Regional Prepaid Plans

Africa Plans This date can be extended by purchasing a 300 minute / one year prepaid voucher. Please request a minimum of 48 hours before your SIM expiry date however on the Africa plan the years validity will run from the day the SIM is recharged not from the Expiry Date.
If the expiry date is not extended then your SIM will expire and become invalid. Any minutes remaining will be lost and your SIM will enter a 270 day grace period in which you may reactivate the SIM by adding a new voucher; however the original balance will be lost and will not be added to the new balance. After this 270 period has ended the SIM will automatically deactivate meaning that you will need to purchase a new SIM Card and voucher.

Latin America Plans This date can be extended by purchasing a further Latin America voucher.
Please request a minimum of 48 hours before your SIM expiry date however on the Latin America plan the years validity will run from the day the SIM is recharged not from the Expiry Date.
If the expiry date is not extended then your SIM Card will expire and become invalid. Any minutes remaining will be lost and your SIM will enter a 270 day grace period in which you may reactivate by adding a new voucher, however the original balance will be lost and will not be added to the new balance. Canada & Alaska (Northern Lights) Plans
This date can be extended by purchasing a Northern Lights 200 minute / 6 month prepaid voucher.
Please request a minimum of 48 hours before your SIM expiry date however on the Northern Lights plan the years validity will run from the day the SIM is recharged not from the Expiry Date.
If the expiry date is not extended then your SIM Card will expire and become invalid. Any minutes remaining will be lost and your SIM will enter a 270 day grace period in which you may reactivate by adding a new voucher, however the original balance will be lost and will not be added to the new balance. After this 270 period has ended the SIM will automatically deactivate meaning that you will need to purchase a new SIM Card and voucher.

MENA Plans
This date cannot be extended. You may add any new pre-paid voucher. Please note that the original balance will be lost.
If you have not reactivated the SIM under a new pre-paid plan by the end of the 270 day grace period the SIM will automatically deactivate meaning that you will need to purchase a new SIM Card and pre-paid voucher.
If you have not reactivated the SIM under a new pre-paid plan by the end of the 270 day grace period the SIM will automatically deactivate meaning that you will need to purchase a new SIM Card and pre-paid voucher.

Iridium Expiry Policy

Iridium enforce a maximum validity for the balance of pre-paid vouchers.
 
All pre-paid units that have been carried over for more than three years will be expired on a daily basis from prepaid account balances. 
 
For any customer who has purchased a 3k/5k e‐voucher since December 17, 2009 and going forward, a four‐year expiry period on units will apply.
 
Units will expire based on the oldest voucher purchase activity which is greater than three years (four years for 3k/5k e‐vouchers) that has not yet been consumed, if applicable.
 
Unit balances are available to customers by calling 2888 or sending an SMS to 2888 from their Iridium handset.  Users will be given the balance of units that may expire if not used within the next six months.  This message will be based on the oldest e‐voucher purchase activity and units that are subject to expiry within the next six months, if applicable.
