GTC customer Paul Sinclair has been celebrating with two other drivers after winning a grueling 190 mile powerboat race completed in Force 7 winds last month. Amazingly, Cougar 46 finished the race with an average speed of 58.42mph!
Paul who has been racing Offshore since the late 1970’s, took part in the classic Cowes-Torquay-Cowes race with co-drivers Steve Curtis and Richard Carr. The prestigious race has long been recognised as one of powerboating’s toughest challenges - comparisons have been made with motorsport events such as Le Mans and the Indy 500.
A well-known figure on the Poole boating scene, Paul comes to GTC for the Iridium airtime and equipment which was carried as backup on the race.
His Iridium 9575 Extreme satellite phone offers voice, SMS and GPS capability. This enabled Paul to send his GPS co-ordinates in case of an emergency.
A battered and beaten co-driver, Paul Sinclair summed up the punishing race with: I quit but we're sure this won't be the last we see of Paul in a powerboat!
