Global Telesat Communications Celebrates 10 Years of Helping to Preserve Customer Safety With Garmin inReach® Devices

Pioneers of GPS and navigation handheld devices with built-in inReach® software, Swiss-domiciled Garmin have been, and continue to be, an immensely valuable corporate partner.

Having successfully managed over 6,000 SOS response operations, we are proud to be able to supply Garmin’s range of satellite tracking devices to mass commercial, travel, and leisure market sectors.

Following Garmin’s acquisition of DeLorme in 2016, the range of inReach satellite trackers, with two-way communication and navigational functionalities, was introduced to a wider audience for both commercial and leisure applications. Packed with advanced features, these GPS-enabled trackers allow the carrier to send and receive satellite text messages or trigger an SOS in the event of an emergency, from anywhere in the world. They are tailor-made to be used by anyone from solo backpackers to lone workers or emergency responders.

Throughout our partnership with both DeLorme and Garmin we have sold and supported 13 different versions of inReach technology, and sold more than 13,000 individual inReach devices to businesses and individuals around the world.

Powered by the globally-reaching Iridium® satellite network, a Garmin device with built-in inReach technology, such as the new and popular Garmin inReach® Mini 2, the GPSMAP® 86i Tracker, the Garmin Montana 700i Satellite Communicator Navigator, or the Garmin inReach® Explorer+ rental option, lets device carriers stay in touch globally.

The latest incarnation of inReach technology, the inReach Mini 2, was released just last month. Compact and lightweight like its predecessor, the inReach Mini 2 comes with a host of new and improved built-in features such as TrackBack® Routing and the Digital Compass, as well as an updated user interface. Users are reliably connected in remote regions via the globally-reaching Iridium satellite network. With two-way messaging, device carriers can communicate with friends and family or engage an SOS rescue operation should they need emergency assistance.

Speaking about the 10-year milestone, Managing Director of GTC, David Phipps, said: “Garmin has been a long-standing and valuable brand partner of ours, one with whom we continue to enjoy shared success. Over the years we have experienced exceptional growth and development. We look forward to our time ahead with Garmin as they continue to release more and more advanced products to an ever-growing audience.”
