Ocean Signal rescueME PLB1 (Used)

The Ocean Signal rescueME PLB1 is a compact, GPS-enabled Personal Locator Beacon designed to alert global emergency services at the push of a button. This used unit delivers the same critical emergency functionality as new, offering a cost-effective way to stay protected in remote environments.

When activated, the beacon transmits your distress signal and precise location via the international Cospas-Sarsat search and rescue satellite network, ensuring emergency services are alerted quickly.

Unlike satellite messengers or tracking devices, the rescueME PLB1 requires no monthly or annual subscription. Once registered, it operates independently of commercial networks, making it a reliable, long-term emergency solution.

Each used unit is tested to confirm correct operation. Cosmetic wear may be present, and battery life will vary depending on the unit.

Key Features

Compact Design
The rescueME PLB1 is one of the smallest Personal Locator Beacons available, designed to fit easily onto a lifejacket or rucksack strap. Its retractable antenna can be deployed quickly and stowed neatly when not in use.

Simple Activation
The PLB1 is designed for one-handed operation, even in difficult conditions. A spring-loaded protective flap prevents accidental activation while allowing fast access in an emergency.

Once activated, the beacon transmits your distress signal and GPS position to a rescue coordination centre via satellite. Your location is continuously transmitted for a minimum of 24 hours.

A high-intensity strobe light also assists search and rescue teams in locating you in low visibility conditions or at night.

Subscription-Free Operation
The rescueME PLB1 operates without any subscription fees or service charges. It communicates directly with the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system, ensuring global emergency coverage without ongoing costs.

Battery & Service
The PLB1 is designed with a long-life battery, typically offering up to 7 years of standby life. However, as this is a used unit, battery condition will vary and may require replacement sooner.

Please note that the battery is not user-replaceable and must be serviced by an authorised dealer.

Programming and Registration

All Personal Locator Beacons must be registered before use so that rescue authorities can identify the user in an emergency.

Used units are typically supplied pre-programmed with the UK country code. Registration must be updated by the new owner before use. In the UK, this is done through the Maritime & Coastguard Agency.

If required, alternative country programming can be arranged prior to shipping.

This device should only be used in situations of grave and imminent danger. False alerts can lead to unnecessary rescue operations and potential penalties.

Register Your PLB

Registering your Personal Locator Beacon is required in most countries and is essential for effective search and rescue response.

To register your device, you will need your unique Beacon HEX ID, which can be found on the unit.
