The Ocean Signal rescueME PLB3 AIS Personal Locator Beacon brings together multiple layers of emergency technology in one compact device, giving you more ways to be found when every second matters.

When activated, the PLB3 sends a 406 MHz distress signal through the global Cospas-Sarsat Search & Rescue satellite system while simultaneously transmitting your position over AIS to compatible vessels nearby.

That means your distress alert can reach both the international Search & Rescue network and vessels within local VHF range at the same time.

AIS Alerting for Faster Local Rescue

Once activated, the beacon broadcasts your position as an AIS distress target, allowing nearby AIS-equipped vessels to see your location on their compatible displays.

In a man-overboard situation, that can be especially valuable. A nearby vessel may be able to respond long before dedicated Search & Rescue assets reach the scene.

Combined with the global 406 MHz distress signal, AIS provides an additional local layer of emergency alerting and location information.

Know Your Distress Alert Has Been Received

Once the Cospas-Sarsat system has received and localised your emergency signal, confirmation can be sent back to the beacon through the Galileo satellite network.

A flashing blue light lets you know that your distress alert has been received and is being routed to the appropriate Search & Rescue authorities.

It doesn't mean rescuers have already arrived, but it provides important reassurance that your emergency signal has successfully reached the system.

Multiple Ways to Help Rescuers Find You

The PLB3 combines several rescue technologies to help guide emergency services towards your position.

Alongside 406 MHz satellite alerting and AIS, it transmits a 121.5 MHz homing signal to help Search & Rescue teams pinpoint your location as they approach.

Integrated GPS, Galileo and GLONASS positioning provides accurate location information, while both a high-intensity white strobe and infrared strobe give rescuers additional visual references in darkness and poor visibility.

Designed for Lifejacket Integration

The rescueME PLB3 has been designed specifically with marine safety in mind.

It can be integrated with many compatible inflatable lifejackets using the supplied mounting system. When correctly installed, inflation of the lifejacket can deploy the antenna and activate the beacon automatically.

For users who don't want to install the PLB inside a lifejacket, a multifunction clip system is also included for attachment to suitable webbing or equipment.

Always check compatibility and fitting guidance from your lifejacket manufacturer before installation.

NFC Connectivity & Mobile App

The rescueME PLB3 also incorporates NFC technology, allowing compatible smartphones to read beacon information using the free Ocean Signal mobile app.

Simply place your NFC-enabled phone near the beacon to access useful information including battery status, self-test history and GNSS test results.

This makes it easier to check that your PLB is ready before heading offshore without using the beacon's internal battery for smartphone communication.

No Subscription Required

Despite its advanced functionality, the rescueME PLB3 does not require a monthly or annual satellite subscription for its emergency distress services.

It features a long-life battery with a 6-year replacement interval from manufacture, or 5 years after being placed into service, and provides more than 24 hours of emergency operation at -20°C.
