delorme-weather-devices You can now get the latest weather information sent directly to your DeLorme inReach SE or inReach Explorer Satellite Tracker or alternatively, to the DeLorme Earthmate app. This is excellent news for those users needing to make critical decisions based on weather conditions. The service has been created to allow you to obtain weather information for:

  1. Your Current Location
  2. A Specific Waypoint
  3. Specific coordinates which can be manually entered

What weather information is available?

Basic The Basic forecast includes temperature, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and atmospheric pressure details for three days in six-hour intervals. Each forecast counts as one text message against your data plan. Source: Forecast.io

Premium (Non-marine) The Premium forecast includes temperature, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and atmospheric pressure details for seven days. The first twelve-hours are forecast in one-hour intervals, followed by intervals of increasing length for the remaining days. Each forecast costs $1 per request. Source: Forecast.io

How do I get the DeLorme Weather Service?

Using the Earthmate App Ensure you have the latest version of the DeLorme Earthmate app as well as the latest firmware version on your paired inReach device. You can upgrade to the latest firmware version by logging into your DeLorme account, connecting your device via USB and syncing the device. Using the DeLorme Satellite Tracker Ensure you have the latest firmware version on your DeLorme device - You can upgrade to the latest firmware version by logging into your DeLorme account, connecting your device via USB and syncing the device.

How much does the service cost?

Each Basic forecast request counts as one text message against your data plan. Each Premium forecast request costs $1 per request which will be added onto your monthly invoice.
