You have always been able to send a SMS or email with the IsatPhone Pro. However, now Inmarsat has made it easier for you to send a Twitter update from anywhere. Inmarsat announce this month that Twitter is available on the IsatPhone Pro via the SMS functionality. To use this new feature you will need to link your existing twitter account from twitter.com. Go to your settings and under “mobile” you will see that “Satellite” is now an option in the dropdown menu for mobile carrier. You will only need to enter in your satellite phone number after the default prefix that twitter provides. The Inmarsat prefix is +870, so you only need to enter the rest of your IsatPhone Pro satellite phone number. To send a tweet from the IsatPhone Pro, select message on the handset menu. In the ‘to’ field use the IsatPhone pro short code 898 and tweet away! This summer Inmarsat is having a competition for users who tweet their experiences or thoughts to @isatphonelive. You could win a new vehicular antenna that allows you to use your IsatPhone Pro while on the move. Inmarsat will be launching the antenna in July. More information on the Inmarsat Twitter competition can be found at www.isatphonelive.com. Other satellite phone carriers also allow you to tweet via satellite. Iridium and Thuraya are available for this service via the Twitter mobile options. The cost of a tweet is the same as your standard SMS charge.
