The inReach+ range accesses the global Iridium satellite network for two way messaging and SOS functionality. The range will also include built-in GPS for location tracking and navigation. The Explorer+ model will expand on navigation features with TOPO maps, compass, barometric altimeter and accelerator. GTC have been stocking the inReach range since 2012 and the devices are some of our most popular products. The SE+ and Explorer+ feature a more ergonomic product design from previous models and will be available Q1 2017. The SE+ and Explorer+ will allow users to stay in touch when off the grid as well as call for help when needed using the SOS button. In case of emergency pressing this button will send GPS co-ordinates to the GEOS Emergency Response Center. GEOS work with response agencies around the world to aid rescues. Preset emergency contacts will also be notified and contacted by GEOS to provide further information on the user's activities. The combination of communication and navigational features means there is only one device you need when heading into the unknown. “Satellite communication is something our customers have been asking for, and we’re pleased to introduce the first Garmin inReach devices following our acquisition of DeLorme last year,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “Beneficial for both customers in the field and family at home, the inReach SE+ and Explorer+ provide peace of mind in addition to great functionality for people who want to explore anywhere and communicate everywhere.” As with previous models subscription plans will be required for the devices.
