Thanks to its voice, data, SMS and GPS tracking capabilities, the Iridium Extreme® Satellite Phone can be used anywhere in the world. Not only this, but the Extreme® offers fully integrated customizable GPS, online tracking and emergency SOS with notification services.
It is lighter and smaller than its predecessor the 9555. Not only does the Extreme offer Iridium's global coverage for voice, data and SMS but it is the first satellite phone to offer the fully integrated services of customisable GPS, online tracking, and emergency SOS with notification services (additional contract required for tracking services).
Iridium Extreme Sat Phone is the most advanced satellite phone currently available. Other features of the handset include an IP65 rating which means the Extreme is dustproof, shock-resistant and jet water-resistant. It is also the first handset to offer military-grade 810F durability. Another first for satellite phones is the introduction of Iridium AxcessPoint. This allows you to set up your Iridium Extreme as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Satellite Voice Capability: Using Iridium’s global satellite network, the Extreme allows you to make and receive phone calls anywhere in the world. The phone offers an integrated speakerphone and hands-free capability through a headset included as standard in our Extreme® phone kit.
SMS and Email Messaging: The Iridium Extreme is SMS and email enabled, allowing you to stay in touch and share experiences with others anywhere in the world. SMS and email messaging is limited to 160 characters and delivery/receipt is dependent on compatibility with local mobile network carriers.
SOS Emergency Button: The Iridium Extreme has a programmable emergency button that activates critical, rapid response when you need it most. It is the only satellite phone currently available with emergency services supported by International Emergency Response Coordinating Center (IERCC), included at no additional cost.
GPS Positioning: The Iridium Extreme Sat Phone is equipped with Location Based Services (LBS) enabling GPS positioning. This allows you to pinpoint and share your coordinates from anywhere on the globe.
Jet Water Resistant: With a ruggedised IP65 rating, the highest of any satellite phone currently available, the Iridium Extreme Sat Phone is designed to withstand the harshest weather conditions. It is jet water resistant, shock resistant, dustproof, and has a rugged antenna for unparalleled durability.
Online Tracking: When used in conjunction with GTCTrack, GTC’s online advanced mapping portal, the Iridium Extreme offers a variety of advanced tracking functions such as a breadcrumb trail of historic movements, live view (position of last message transmitted) and exact location of SOS and emergency requests. These tracking functions are available with an additional subscription.
Our online mapping portal can track your Iridium Extreme®Satellite Phone to provide real-time information via your GPS location. Any person provided with the login can become an operator to monitor any number of GSM or satellite assets simultaneously in real time and historically on both the Basic and Professional plans.

GTCTrack Professional Mapping
Available from just £12.50 ex VAT per month per device and allows you to track multiple devices on the same map in addition to features available on the Basic plan. This plan is essential for businesses or organisers managing multiple devices to be able to track the movements of individuals and assets. Suitable for users requiring access to multiple devices under one login. Includes Geo-Fencing. Fee is applicable per device. How can a vessel owner be sure Iridium equipment satisfies regulatory requirements?
Iridium has obtained Recognition from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and a Letter of Compliance from IMO’s regulator, the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO). As always, vessel owners are ultimately responsible for working with their flag administration and Port State Authorities on all compliance questions.
